Thermal Microcautery

Thermal Microcautery (Agnikarma) is practiced in Greece by Dr Nikolaos Kostopoulos at the Holistic Health Centre.
It is a technique which has originated from Ayurveda, the traditional system of medicine used in India and it is described as a method of pain management in the classical text book of Susruta Samhita.

Thermal microcautery involves the application of heat to the painful areas of the body with the use of a specific tool. Its use is personalised according to the severity of the pain, the constitution of the patient and the pathology of the disease.

It is effective in some case of acute pain plus in chronic pain management. Examples of its application are migraine, back aches cervical syndrome, frozen shoulder, etc.

Although currently rarely practiced, Thermal Microcautery is a clinically established Ayurvedic para-surgical treatment. When it is practiced correctly, it is extremely effective.

Dr Nikolaos Kostopoulos is an advisor at the Global Agnikarma Centre in India. It has been operational since 2014 and up to now, 53,000 patients have been treated with more than 250.000 procedures of Agnikarma (Thermal Microcautery) having taken place.
